Kathmandu – Tribhuvan Army Club and Gandaki Province have advanced to the semifinals of the Fourth Sahana Pradhan Memorial National Women’s Hockey Tournament on Thursday.
Defending champions Army defeated Province 1 by a scoreline of 7-0 in their match held at Adarshanagar Sports Ground in Birgunj to storm into the semis. Kamala Chand scored 4 goals for Army including a hat-trick while Nilima Pandey scored 2 and Sita Maya Bal got 1. Army’s Anjama Chand was declared woman of the match.
In another match, Gandaki Province defeated Lumbini Province- champions of the second edition of the tournament – 2-0 to secure a place in the semifinals. Kamala Devi Gharti Pun and Nanu Gurung were on target for Gandaki Province. Sabita Pun Rana of Gandaki was adjudged woman of the match.
The winners will face each other in the semifinal on Friday. In another semifinal, Sudur Paschim Province will take on Madhes Pradesh, informed hockey coach Ranjan Thapa. Both the semifinal matches will be held on Friday.
