Arsenal agree on Ozil’s Fenerbahce move

Mesut Ozil has signed for Turkish side Fenerbahce. Ozil has earned a sign-on fee of £ 4.5 million and will gain about £ 60,000 a week.

Ozil agreed on a reduced wage from his £ 350,000-per-week contract at Arsenal-while sponsors and endorsements will raise his wages. Ozil took to social media to say farewell to his former side. He has not appearing for Arsenal since a 1-0 victory over West Ham in March 2020 and being excluded from the club’s Premier League squad. And had only words of appreciation.

In a long, heartfelt letter to Arsenal fans, he said on Twitter, “I’d like to thank the club for this amazing journey over the past seven-and-a-half years,” During my time here, the love I have felt from the team and fans has been truly amazing and something I will always be thankful for the support I have felt from the team and fans during my time here has been truly incredible and something I will always be grateful for”.

“Together we won trophies for the first time in years and created memories that will last a lifetime. The Arsenal fans will forever remain in my heart. “I’d like to thank Edu Gaspar for helping bring about a professional and dignified solution in the past few days, and I wish everyone at the club the best in their attempt to continue to bring Arsenal back to the top, where we belong.”

Ozil has not played since the 1-0 victory over West Ham before the coronavirus pandemic saw football come to a halt. But he had started the first 10 games under Mikel Arteta following his appointment in December 2019. He was omitted from the squads of the Arsenal Premier League and Europa League, with Arteta and technical director Edu insisting that the move was for soccer purposes.
