Kathmandu – Lumbini Province skipper Bishal Bikram KC’s 4-wicket haul helped his team register first victory in an ongoing Wai Wai U19 National Cricket Tournament. The defending champions beat Karnali Province by 6 wickets with 175 balls remaining.
Karnali Province, who won the toss and elected to bat first, packed up for 100 runs in 22.2 overs following a pitful batting at TU Cricket Ground. Manish Thapa and Bipin Rawal gave a start to the innings.
While Manish returned to the dugout with 6 runs in the pocket, Skipper Bipin collected the maximum of 36 runs with 5 fours and 1 six in 39 deliveries.
A horrific performance continued from Karnali’s middle-order batsmen which then resulted in 3 duck outs. Lumbini’s Bishal Bikram KC bowled Anirudh Kawar in 12.5 overs whereas Durgesh Gupta caught Aawash Shah and Avishek Gautam caught Sandip Shahi off Bishal’s delivery in 14.2 and 16.1 overs respectively.
With Suwas Ayer scoring 23 runs, Roshan Shahi (3), Dinesh Adhikari (1), Anuj Chanara (4), and Yunish Singh left the crease collecting 4 runs. Mohan BK remained unbeaten for 8 runs.
Lumbini’s spinner Bishal Bikram KC claimed 4 wickets giving away 17 runs with 2 maidens in 5 overs. Avishek Gautam booked a couple of wickets whereas Nar Sarki, Nirmal Gurung, and Tul Bahadur Thapa took apiece.
In return, Lumbini Province chased the winning target of 101 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Lumbini’s opener Aakash Tripathi stroked four in the 20.5 overs to complete his half-century and won the match in style.
Dev Khanal, the experienced member of the squad, returned to the pavilion early with 8 runs from 17 deliveries including a four. Vishal Bhusal (4), Bishal Bikram KC (13), Prajjwol Thapa (10), Manoj Magar(9), and Aakash Tripathi added 52 runs to the tally.
Karnali’s Pacer Anuj Chanara took 2 wickets whereas Sandip Shahi and Mohan B claimed a piece. Lumbini Province’s skipper Bishal Bikram KC was named the player of the match.
