Kathmandu – Himalayan Sherpa Club have registered their first win in the ongoing Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League on Sunday. Himalayan Sherpa defeated Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 3-1 during their match held at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
Mutamba Piston Bhunyoli, Suresh Kumal and Manish Thapa were on target for Himalayan Sherpa while Bhuvan Basnet scored a consolation goal for BBC.
Mutamba scored the first goal of the match in the fourth minute to give Himalayan Sherpa the lead. He scored a header in a freekick from Himalayan Sherpa captan Biswas Shrestha to stun BBC goalkeeper Angel Shrestha. Himalayan Sherpa were awarded the free kick after Bisan Gurung was fouled by Shishir Lekhi.
Goalkeeper Shrestha punched another header from Mutamba in the 12th minute. On the other side of the field, BBC failed to score an equalizer in the 19th minute when a Daddy Junior Bamba’s header in a free kick from Dipesh Gurung hit the bar.
After the break, BBC’s substitute forward Bhuvan Basnet scored an equalizer in the 53rd minute to make the scoreline 1-1.
However, Himalayan Sherpa once again took the lead with a goal from Suresh Kumal in the 74th minute. He chipped in the ball in a long pass from Jeevan Gurung when BBC goalkeeper Angel Shrestha had moved away from his position. Manish Thapa added another goal in the dying minutes (90+4 minutes) to kill the match.
With the victory, Himalayan Sherpa have collected five points from five matches and have climbed to eighth position. BBC also have five points from five matches but lie in the ninth position followed by Police in the 10th spot.
Earlier, Himalayan Sherpa had registered two draws and two defeats. On the other hand, BBC have been beaten twice while they have registered 1 victory and played two draws.
