Juventus defeat Cagliari with Ronaldo’s brace

With a 2-0 win over Cagliari, credits to Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-half double helped Juventus to climb to second in the Serie A standings.

The 35-year-old winger beautifully scored in the 38th minute and gave Juve the lead. The lead doubled when Ronaldo scored at the far post just four minutes after. He now has 8 goals in four appearances this season.

Former Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan thought he had got Cagliari back into the tie, but in the build-up, his header was ruled out for offside. On two occasions, Ronaldo even turned provider as Juventus looked to score again but bad finishing ensured that the hosts struggled to add to their tally.

The win helped the unbeaten side of manager Andrea Pirlo to close the gap to leaders AC Milan by one point, with Milan playing Sunday at Napoli. Cagliari remains 11th after the loss.
