Mbappe masterclass sinks Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe scored a brilliant hattrick against Barcelona in the first leg of Champions League RO-16. PSG won 4-1 where Moise Kean scored the other and Lionel Messi getting the consolation goal.

Icardi should have put PSG in front but he scuffed his shot. But Frankie De Jong was tripped by Kurzawa and Barcelona got a penalty. Lionel Messi took the lead for Barcelona as he blasted a penalty in the first half. Only 5 minutes later cool finish from Mbappe levelled it for PSG.

Barcelona had another moment in which they could have scored but Girezmann shot wide. Mbappe had not scored two years before Tuesday in the Champions League knockouts. He got another one as he smashed PSG into the lead in the 65th minute.

While Moise Kean took advantage of some woeful Barca marking to lead the visitors in the 70th to a third goal. However, the insatiable Mbappe looked hungry for more and he completed his treble in the 85th minute. He was denied his third goal by Barca keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen just before he curled the ball past the German into the top corner.

Barcelona had overcome 4-0 first leg defeat at Parc de Princes in 2017 but winning 6-1 at Camp Nou. They face similar situation but this time they’ll have to do it away from home.
