Kathmandu – Nabita Shrestha along with Sanyog Kapali, Rubin Maharjan, and Binesh Khaniya topped their respective group of the ongoing South Asian Regional Championship 2022 to find their way toward the Asian Championship Qualification.
Sanyog defeated Bangladesh’s Mohammad Nafiz in a straight set in an opening match and Maldives’s Musa Munsif Ahamed by 3-1 in the second to top Group D with 4 points.
Similarly, in the first match, Rubin outplayed Sri Lanka’s Bhuwenka Nirmal Bandera Jayasinghe in a straight set and Pakistan’s Muhammad Shah Khan by 3-1 in a second match to lead Group ‘C’.
Winning both matches, Binesh Khaniya qualified for Asian Championship Qualification leading Group F.
Moreover, Nabita became the lone player to qualify from the women’s side, remaining at the top of Group ‘H’ with 4 points.
