Nepal Police Club near-at-hand to the semifinal

Kathmandu – Skipper Dipendra Singh Airee’s all-round performance guides Nepal Police Club (NPC) towards a victory against Lumbini Province by 6 wickets in an ongoing Prime Minister One Day National Cricket Tournament. With a win, NPC moves closer to the semifinal.

Lumbini, who chose to bat first after winning the toss packed up for 188 runs in 44.2 overs at TU Cricket Ground. Dev Khanal played an innings of 74 runs which turned out to be useless as Lumbini failed to achieve a victory.

Lumbini’s opener batsman Aakash Tripathi and Anil Kharel failed to earn any runs. Prajjwol Thapa and Bishal Bikram KC scored 23 and 30 runs respectively. Sandeep Rajali found his way back to the dugout for 7.

Durgesh Gupta and Mohammad Husen collected 11 runs each off 21 balls. Basir Ahamad got bowled by Dipendra Singh Airee for 5 runs. Krishna Karki scored 9 runs and Avishek Gautam remained unbeaten for 0.

NPC skipper Dipendra snatched 4 wickets, Karan KC and Sagar Dhakal sent two men back. Gulsan Jha and Lalit Rajbanshi booked one wicket each in their name.

Nepal Police Club overcame the winning target of 189 runs in 37.1 overs at cost of 4 wickets. Captain Dipendra played till the end collecting 43 runs from 66 deliveries.

Durgesh Gupta bowled NPC opener Sunil Dhamala while he was at 36 runs. Kushal Bhurtel collected 32 runs from 41 deliveries before getting caught by Prajjwol Thapa off Anil Kharel’s ball.

Amit Shrestha got LBW out off Anil Kharel’s ball for 28 runs. Middle-order batsman Aarif Sheikh got caught by Mohammad Husen off Bishal Bikram KC’s delivery for 35 runs. The match came to an end with Dilip Nath’s four in the 37.1 overs. Dilip added 6 runs to the tally.

Spinner Anil Kharel took two wickets for Lumbini. Husen and Durgesh took a piece. NPC’s Dipendra Singh Airee was adjudged the Player of the Match.
