Nepal’s tour to Namibia results winless

Scotland registered an 8-wicket victory over Nepal in the closing match of the Namibia Tour belonging to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League at United Ground in Windhoek.

Nepal’s Inning

Nepal, who won the toss and chosen to bat first wrapped up early bagging a puny run. It took Scotland just 35.3 to snatch all wickets of Nepal for 119 runs.

Nepal’s openers Arjun Saud and Aasif Sheikh failed to last longer in the crease. Arjun returned to the pavilion with an empty pocket in 0.3 overs. Moreover, Aasif Sheikh collected 1 run off 9 deliveries before leaving the crease in 3.1 overs.

Gyanendra Malla, continuing his poor form, got dismissed for 9 runs off 16 deliveries following an LBW. However, Skipper Rohit Paudel contributed the highest of 47 runs of 57 deliveries with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Dipendra Singh Airee (14), Aarif Sheikh (6), Harishankar Shah (1), Gulsan Jha (5), Sompal Kami (16), and Lalit Rajbanshi added 11 runs to the tally. Sagar Dhakal remained not out for 1.

With Scotland’s bowlers Brandon McMullen, Safyaan Sharif, and Mark Watt claiming 2 wickets each, Chris Sole, Christopher McBride, and Chris Greaves picked up 1 each.

Scotland’s Inning

In return, Scotland finished the match in 17 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Christopher McBride, playing a not-out inning, scored the highest of 46 runs for the winning side including 7 fours off 40 balls.

George Munsey, smashing 7 fours and 2 sixers, collected 45 runs off 28 deliveries before Dipendra Singh Airee’s delivery hit his Leg Before Wicket in 9.5 overs.

While opener Kyle Coetzer, returned to the dugout for 16 runs off 14 deliveries, Scotland’s captain Richie Berrington remained not out for 12 runs.

Nepal’s Gulsan Jha and Dipendra Singh Airee took a wicket each.

Nepal, who were lucky enough to share a spoil on its first outing of the tour as the match got called off due to rain, lost all the other matches, risking its ODI status.
