Police edge out APF to reach final of New Diamond Cup

Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club emerged victorious in the departmental derby against APF during the Bagmati Province New Diamond Cup Open National Women’s Volleyball Championship on Thursday.

Police defeated their rivals APF in the last match of the round-robin league to extend their unbeaten run. Despite the defeat, APF along with Police reached the final of the championship by the virtue of finishing second in the league round.   

During the clash of the two teams at Kirtipur-based Multipurpose Covered Hall, Police fought back from the second set down to defeat APF 3-1. Police won the first set 25-18 but suffered a 14-25 defeat in the second set. Police then went on to win the next two sets 25-17 and 25-20.

Unbeaten police have 9 points from 3 matches while APF have 6 points from 3 matches. The two teams will now vie for the title on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, hosts New Diamond registered a straight set victory over Paropakar Adarsha Secondary School to register their first win. New Diamond have 3 points from 3 matches while Paropakar are at the bottom of the table without any points.
