Tul Bahadur shows off Ronaldo celebration in debut wicket

Chinaman Tul Bahadur Thapa, who made his debut for Bhairahawa Gladiators in the second match of the Everest Premier League (EPL) on Sunday, celebrated with Ronaldo’s famous ‘Siii’ after taking the wicket of West Indies’ Kesrick Williams. Tul Bahadur shared his happiness through the celebration after trapping Williams in lbw in his debut match.

Tul Bahadur, who started well could not continue his second over as rain stopped the play. Bhairahawa’s strong bowling performance reduced Pokhara to a miserable 65-7. But then he came back and took the wicket in the fourth ball.

After trapping Williams for lbw, he jumped off the pitch and celebrated Ronaldo. Speaking after the game, Tul Bahadur said he did so because he was impressed by Ronaldo’s hard work. “I like Ronaldo. His hard work impacts everyone. I don’t play football regularly, but I like Ronaldo. In cricket, Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav are my favorite players, ”he said.

Tul Bahadur shared that Williams praised his bowling and asked the reason for the celebration. ‘For me, it was like an international wicket. After the game, Williams praised the bowling. it feels great,’ he shared, ‘Williams also asked if I was a fan of Ronaldo, but I said I’m not a fan, but I like him.’

Williams himself is famous in world cricket for one of his celebrations. He used to do notebook celebrations after taking a wicket, which at times has come back to bite him. In 2017, Williams celebrated similarly after taking Indian captain Virat Kohli’s wicket. In 2019, Kohli had the same celebration readied against him after winning the series.

Williams said he also discussed the celebration matter with Tul Bahadur. ‘When Williams asked if I was a fan, I said I followed him. I also told him about his celebration with Kohli. Then Williams told me to do the same the next time he hits a six. I said I would laugh and see, ‘said Tul Bahadur laughingly.

Tul Bahadur, who got the opportunity to make his debut, said that he could not perform as he did in training. ‘I was throwing very well on the nets. That’s why I was confident that I would be able to make my debut. Even though I got few opportunities in the game today, I could not bowl accordingly. The game got canceled but I can do better, ‘he said.

Tul Bahadur said that although he had high morale after being in the EPL, he was a bit worried when the spinner struggled in the last game. ‘The morale is high after getting the opportunity in the EPL. There was some concern that the spinner did not get much help in yesterday’s and today’s games. I focused on my performance. Sadly, today’s game could not be completed. But this experience will be easier in the days to come, ‘he said.

Tul Bahadur Thapa, who was included in the Bhairahawa team through Talent Hunt, is from Damri village in Pyuthan. He plays domestic cricket from Dang. He has been playing domestic cricket from Dang as there is no district cricket association in Pyuthan. He practices at the Star Cricket Academy of former Nepal cricketer Shakti Gauchan.

Tulle is playing the first franchise league of his career. Last year, he played for Dang in the Lumbini selection for the Prime Minister’s Cup ODI cricket tournament.
